The Game is an American comedy-drama television series created by Mara Brock Akil. The series is a spin-off of the long-running UPN/CW sitcom Girlfriends.
The Game returned to the air for a fourth season on January 11, 2011, and brought a record breaking 7.7 million viewers for the season premiere which made it the most watched sitcom premiere in cable television history.

Salim Akil is an award-winning director, screenwriter, and executive producer. Born in Oakland, California he co-wrote and produced 1999’s Drylongso which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and Berlin Film Festival. A year later he worked as a staff writer and executive producer on Showtime’s hit drama Soul Food.
